Tottenham Hotspur have had an active transfer window, bringing in several new faces, but they may not be finished just yet.
According to a report from Football Insider, Spurs are prioritizing the signing of a new centre-back before the transfer window closes.
Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou have reportedly identified the centre-back position as an area that needs more depth.
With Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven currently the first-choice pairing, and Radu Dragusin as a backup, the departure of Joe Rodon and Eric Dier, along with Ashley Phillips’ loan move to Stoke City, has left the squad somewhat thin in this department.
They were strongly linked with Marc Guehi earlier in the window but Newcastle have emerged as top contenders to sign him.
Tottenham have already made five signings this summer. Dominic Solanke and Archie Gray are among the most notable, bolstering the squad’s attacking and midfield options.
Additionally, the club signed young winger Wilson Odobert, who impressed on his debut against Everton, and South Korean starlet Min-hyuk Yang, who has been loaned back to his parent club for the season.
Spurs also completed the official signing of Lucas Bergvall after a deal was agreed upon in January and extended Timo Werner’s loan for another year.
As the transfer deadline looms, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will make further additions to their squad. With centre-back reinforcements a priority, fans will be eagerly awaiting any last-minute moves by the club to strengthen their defensive ranks.
