Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing the Montpellier striker Elye Wahi.
The 20-year-old has been an impressive player for the French outfit this season and he has 12 goals and 2 assists to his name in the league.
A report from Jeunes Footeux claims that Arsenal and Tottenham are keen on signing the 20-year-old at the end of the season and the player is likely to cost around €30 million (£26m).
The report further states that his performances have caught the eye of the two Premier League clubs and they are following the player closely.
Wahi recently scored a brace against Clermont for his side and the opposition manager Pascal Galtier said: “I think he’s one of the best forwards in Ligue 1 at his age. What I know is that he’s a very good player. We aren’t the ones who are going to say the opposite because every time he plays against us, he scores goals. He’s efficient, which is rare at that age, so yes, I think he will be a very, very good player.”
Unsurprisingly, Tottenham are looking to bring in another attacker in the summer. They have been overly reliant on Harry Kane this season and the England international clearly needs more help and support from his teammates.
As for Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus is the only reliable goalscorer at the club right now and Mikel Arteta will need to add more depth to his side if the Gunners are to compete on all fronts.
Bringing in another goal scorer could prove to be a wise move for both London clubs and it remains to be seen where Wahi ends up. The 20-year-old is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him and he has the potential to justify the €30m asking price.
A move to the Premier League would be a major step up in his career and it could help accelerate his development. However, the youngster must ensure that he joins a club where he will get ample game time next season.
