Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez.
The 21-year-old is one of the most talented young midfielders in La Liga right now and he is highly rated at the Spanish club. He was a part of the Spanish national team that won the Euro 2024 earlier this summer and he played a key role for his country in the Olympics as well.
According to Football Espana, Lopez was a target for Manchester United as well. Both Premier League clubs enquired about him, but the move did not advance because the player is not keen on leaving his boyhood club any time soon. Barcelona consider him as a key part of their plans going forward as well, and they are unwilling to sanction his departure.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham return for the talented young midfielder at the end of the season. They could certainly use a technically gifted midfielder after the departures of Giovani Lo Celso, Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Lopez would be a long-term investment for them, and he could develop into a key player for the club with the right guidance. Tottenham certainly have the financial resources to get the deal done.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will be keen on his signature as well, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. A move to the Premier League can be quite exciting for most players, but Lopez seems keen on staying at Barcelona for now, and a move to sign him could prove to be very difficult.
