Tottenham end their pursuit of 24-year-old PL utility man, three alternatives lined up

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a move for the Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah in recent weeks.

A report from Sky Sports claims that the north London outfit have now cooled their interest in the 24-year-old because of his recent injury problems.

Tottenham are now looking at the other potential options as they look to bring in a defender in January. Apparently, the likes of Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo are on their transfer radar. Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba is also one of the options they are looking at.

Apparently, they are looking to bring in a left-footed central defender and it remains to be seen who they end up signing.

The 24-year-old Chelsea defender would have been a quality acquisition for Tottenham and he is versatile enough to operate as the full-back as well.

Chalobah has struggled for regular game time at Stamford Bridge and he needs to leave the club in order to play regularly.

A move to Tottenham would have been ideal for him and the North London outfit could have provided him with more game time compared to Chelsea.

The player has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich as well and it remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.

The defender is currently sidelined with an injury and he is expected to return in January.

Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven has picked up a serious injury and the Dutchman is currently sidelined for several weeks. Spurs must look to sign a quality defender in January in order to keep their hopes of UEFA Champions League qualification alive.
