According to the Daily Express (h/t Evening Standard), Tottenham have drawn up a four-man shortlist ahead of the January transfer window.

The report claims that Daniel Levy is ‘weighing up four January transfer targets’ in order to strengthen the defense, an area which is in dire need of a centre-back, a position that has become the top-priority for Ange and co.

Suspension to Romero and injury to Micky van de Ven has had a huge impact on Tottenham’s season.

The pair had formed a formidable partnership at the back helping Spurs to a terrific start to the season with 10 games unbeaten, 8 wins and 2 draws as they sat on top of the table above Manchester City and Arsenal.

But since then, they have now lost three games in a row and fallen down to the 5th place.

It has become utmost necessary for them to sign a new centre-back in January.

The new sporting director Johan Lange along with Scott Munn and Daniel Levy have started working behind the scenes and as per the report, they have shortlisted four defenders – Marc Guehi, Jarrad Branthwaite, Lloyd Kelly and Jean-Clair Todibo with the  Frenchman being on top of the list.

However, they will have to go head to head with Manchester United and Liverpool for to sign him.

Another report claims that Ange has also instructed Spurs to make a move for Sporting Lisbon’s Inacio.

The January window is critical for Spurs. If they fail to bolster their squad with the necessary signings, their season could be further detailed.
