Massive blow for Tottenham: Key first-team player will not play again this season

Tottenham Hotspur have been dealt another significant blow as star defender Destiny Udogie has confirmed that he will miss the remainder of the Premier League season due to injury.

The left-back took to his Instagram account to share the news with Spurs fans, posting photos of himself on a hospital bed along with a message expressing his gratitude for the support he has received during the season.

He wrote:

“The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.”

“An injury brings my season to an early end. It doesn’t take away from how grateful I am to every person that has supported me this year.”

Destiny Udogie established himself as an integral part of Ange Postecoglou’s set up and will prove to be a huge blow for Tottenham in their bid to finish top 4 this season.

With Ryan Sessegnon also sidelined for the remainder of the season due to a hamstring injury, Tottenham’s defensive options have been further limited.

This leaves Ben Davies and Emerson Royal as the primary backups in the full-back positions.

Ben Davies has proven himself to be a brilliant utility player, playing as a centre-back in the absence of Micky van de Ven.

Meanwhile, Emerson Royal, who has lost his place at right-back to Pedro Porro, has been utilised as both a makeshift centre-back during the absence of Romero and a left-back this season.

The absence of Udogie presents a challenge for Postecoglou as he navigates Tottenham’s remaining fixtures of the season, with the decision of who will replace the injured defender yet to be determined.
