Tottenham dealt transfer blow as Arsenal lead race for £43m-rated target

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee in recent weeks.

The North London outfit are keen on the 22-year-old Dutchman, but they have been dealt a transfer blow as bitter rivals Arsenal are now leading the chase for the highly-rated attacker.

Zirkzee has 11 goals and six assists across all competitions and a report from HITC claims that Arsenal are in pole position to sign him, despite the interest from Tottenham.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to make their move and try to beat Arsenal to his services. It is no secret that Spurs need to bring in a quality striker. They chose not to replace Harry Kane at the start of the season and they are missing a reliable goalscorer right now.

Zirkzee will add goals and creativity to the Tottenham attack and he is likely to improve with coaching and experience.

Meanwhile, Arsenal need a quality alternative to Gabriel Jesus and the 22-year-old should prove to be a superb investment. Jesus has not been able to score goals consistently and Arsenal need alternatives if they want to do well across all competitions.

The opportunity to play for clubs like Arsenal and Tottenham will be quite exciting for the young attacker and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

The report from HITC claims that the attacker is valued at £43 million and it will be interesting to see whether Tottenham and Arsenal are prepared to pay up.
