Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.

However, the Championship club will not sanction a departure in January. They are keen to hold onto the 22-year-old midfielder and Tottenham will have to look at other options if they want to improve their midfield midway through the season, as per GMS.

Hackney is highly rated in England and he is one of the brightest young talents in the Championship. He could prove to be a solid future investment for Tottenham who are in need of midfield depth.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder could be the ideal acquisition for Tottenham. He could compete with Yves Bissouma for the starting spot and eventually replace him in the starting lineup.

Hackney is a prodigious talent with a bright future. He has the quality to succeed in the Premier League and he could develop into a key player for Tottenham with the right guidance. The North London club will certainly be keen on securing his signature. It will be interesting to see if they decide to wait around for him until the summer transfer window.

There is no doubt that he could be a quality long-term investment for them. If they can sign him for a reasonable price in the summer of 2025, the transfer could prove to be a masterstroke in the long term.

The midfielder has the physical and technical attributes to thrive in the Premier League, and he will be hoping to compete at the highest level as well. A move to Tottenham will be an exciting opportunity for him. It would provide him with the platform to showcase his abilities in the top flight and possibly in Europe as well.

It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few months.
