Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the highly talented striker Zepiqueno Redmond in recent weeks, and Paul Robinson has urged them to get the deal done.

The 18-year-old will be available on a free transfer in the summer, and Robinson believes that he is an elite talent, and Tottenham should look to move quickly and secure his signature.

Tottenham’s transfer plans could be delayed because of the managerial situation at the club. Ange Postecoglou is likely to be shown the door in the summer, but Robinson believes that Redmond is the kind of talent that can be signed without a manager’s approval.

He said to Football Insider: “That’s the type of recruitment that you can do without a manager. There’s a lot of upheaval at Tottenham – Redmond’s the type of player that you sign without a manager.

“That’s the board’s decision, that’s the director of football decision, the recruitment team – you’ve identified him; 18 years old, [he’s] come through the academy, a top quality player.

“If you’re hat’s in the ring for that one, you’ve got a good quality player, you don’t need the manager’s approval to sign a player like that – that one can be done without a manager.”

It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds. Redmond is highly talented, and he has a bright future ahead of himself. Signing a player of his potential on a free transfer could look like a major bargain in the long term. Tottenham would do well to act quickly and get the deal done.

Meanwhile, the opportunity to join Tottenham will be exciting for the 18-year-old as well. He will look to establish himself as a first-team player for them. Regular football in England could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his potential.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to press ahead with their interest in the player, and secure an agreement with him.
