Ange Postecoglou had a dream start to life as a Tottenham Hotspur manager and his team were flying high in the initial phase of the season.
However, their form dipped due to injury issues and Spurs are now looking to add quality and depth to their squad. Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong is one of their targets. The North London club could offer a fee of around €60m to sign him as per a report by Sport via SportWitness.
De Jong joined Barcelona in the summer of 2019 after proving himself at Ajax. Since making the move, the Dutch international has been a regular in their first team but he has often been linked with a move away from the club.
Despite having over two years left on his deal with the Catalan giants, his future is still the talk of the town. While De Jong did dismiss any links away from the club and he called out the media for writing stories that are not true, Tottenham Hotspur have no intentions of ending their pursuit of him.
Top European clubs haven’t taken their eyes off the 26-year-old midfielder and Spurs are one of them. The London club feel De Jong could add a lot of quality to their ranks, he could be the leader of their midfield and as a result, they are willing to put forward an offer of around €60 million to land him.
He still has two years left on his deal which won’t make things easy for any of the interested parties and moreover, there are reports that suggest Deco has assured his agents that his future lies in Barcelona.
