Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on the Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres.
According to a report from Daily Express via TBR Football, the 24-year-old is likely to be sold this summer and Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on securing his signature.
The former Manchester City attacker has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot at Barcelona, and they are ready to cash on him so that they can fund their own signings.
Despite not starting regularly, he has 11 goals and four assists to his name this past season. Torres is capable of playing anywhere across the front three and he would be the ideal acquisition for Spurs. They need to add more goals and creativity to their attack this summer.
Meanwhile, the report claims that Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham are keeping tabs on the Spanish international as well. Torres has played in England before and he knows the league well. He could come in and make an immediate impact at Spurs if the move goes through.
Tottenham are yet to bring in a quality replacement for Harry Kane. Son Heung-min led the line for them last season but the South Korean is more suited to a wide role. The signing of Torres would allow him to play in his natural role, and the Spanish international could lead the line for Tottenham.
The report states that Torres could be available for a fee of around £30 million this summer and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham are willing to pay up. They will probably hope to sign him for a more reasonable price. He is unwanted at Barcelona and his suitors will want to take advantage of that situation. It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.
Tottenham are yet to follow up on their interest with an official proposal. They could be an attractive destination for the 24 year-old attacker if they are willing to provide him with gametime assurances. They have an ambitious project and a talented squad. Torres will look to compete for trophies with them.
