Tottenham could look to beat PL rivals to the signing of £25m-rated January target

Tottenham Hotspur could look to make a move for Adam Wharton before the January transfer window closes.

According to a report from Football Insider, Crystal Palace are keen on signing the Blackburn Rovers midfielder as well and they have already had an offer of around £18.5 million rejected for the talented young midfielder.

However, the Eagles are not prepared to give up on him and they will return with an improved offer. The Premier League side are keen on securing Wharton’s services this month.

The report further states that Tottenham could look to hijack the move for the 19-year-old midfielder. It will be interesting to see if they are prepared to accept Blackburn’s demands.

The Championship outfit are holding out for a fee of around £25 million and Tottenham certainly have the resources to afford the player.

They need to add more quality and depth in the middle of the park and the 19-year-old would be a solid, long-term investment. Wharton has established himself as a key performer for Blackburn this season and he is certainly good enough to succeed in the Premier League as well.

The £25 million-rated midfielder will add control and defensive cover at the base of the Tottenham midfield and he could prove to be the ideal replacement for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who has been linked with the move away from the club in recent weeks.

Clubs like Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen on the player as well. Crystal Palace are currently leading the race for his signature, but they are aware of the fact that they could be beaten to the transfer.
