Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the Athletico Paranaense forward Vitor Roque.
The player has been linked with a move to Barcelona this summer and it appears that Tottenham are now making their move to sign him.
According to Mundo Deportivo via SportWitness, Tottenham have been in touch with the player’s representatives regarding a summer move.
It is no secret that Spurs need to bring in attacking reinforcements and Roque could prove to be a quality long-term acquisition.
The 18-year-old is the centre forward but he is versatile enough to operate as a winger as well. The Brazilian has 14 goals across all competitions, and he could prove to be the ideal backup option for Harry Kane.
The England international had to carry the Tottenham attack all by himself last season and he needs more support from his teammates. Signing another reliable goalscorer would help share the burden with Kane.
The 18-year-old Brazilian is a prodigious talent with a massive future ahead of him and he is rated highly in South America and Europe. He has the potential to develop into a top-class player and it would be a superb long-term investment if Spurs managed to get the deal done.
The report claims that Barcelona are currently very advanced as far as negotiations to sign the 18-year-old are concerned, but Tottenham are hoping to throw a spanner in the works and overtake the Spanish club in the race.
Barcelona are going through financial difficulties and if Tottenham can offer a lucrative package to the Brazilian club, it will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds.
