Tottenham Hotspur are all set to battle it out with Chelsea and Newcastle United for the signature of Rayan Cherki.
The North London club are looking to reinforce their attack on a priority basis ahead of next season. Despite parting ways with Harry Kane last summer, the club has coped well in front of goal without signing a replacement.
But, their manager Ange Postecoglou is now looking for more firepower in attack to help him take the next step and according to a report from HITC, they are keen on having Rayan Cherki in their ranks.
The French youth international has come up the ranks at Olympique Lyon. He has been a part of their first team since the winter of 2020. He might have struggled in the first half of the season. But, the 20-year-old has managed to bounce back in the second half and has finished the season with three goals and eight assists in just over 1,900 minutes of first-team football.
While he prefers playing as an attacking midfielder, he can feature on both flanks and even as a striker when needed. His versatility and huge potential are two major reasons why multiple clubs are keen on his signature.
Tottenham are one of the clubs who would love to have the French sensation in their squad. Their Australian boss seeks attacking reinforcement and Cherki could prove to be a sensational signing for them. He will not only provide cover to James Maddison but the 20-year-old could also be used in other attacking positions.
He will make the North London club more threatening going forward but they will have to battle with Chelsea and Newcastle for his signature. The Magpies want to reinforce their squad following a poor season and Cherkis could prove to be a great signing for the short as well as long run.
As far as Chelsea are concerned, they have been linked with the French youth international on multiple occasions. They are well aware of the potential he has and are pushing hard for him.
With all three clubs being kept informed about his situation at Lyon, it will be interesting to see if Spurs could end up winning the race for his signature.
