Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in the Palmeiras midfielder Richard Rios.

The 25-year-old has done quite well for club and country, and Tottenham are weighing up a potential move for him. According to a report from Spanish publication AS, the player will cost around €25 million.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham can finalise the deal. They will face competition from Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest as well.

Tottenham need more depth and quality in the middle of the park, and the 25-year-old could be the ideal acquisition. He is a combative midfielder who will add defensive cover and drive to the side. The opportunity to move to the Premier League will be exciting for him, and he will look to test himself at a high level. Tottenham are a big club and they will be able to offer him Champions League football next season.

It is fair to assume that they have the resources to pay the asking price as well. It remains to be seen how the situation develops over the next few weeks.

The player is unlikely to leave Palmeiras before the Club World Cup ends, and Tottenham should look to move quickly if they want to beat the competition for his signature. They tried to sign him a few months ago as well.

Tottenham need midfield depth

Tottenham had a disappointing Premier League campaign last year, and they will look to bounce back strongly. They need more quality in the middle of the park. Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma have been linked with a potential move away from the club in recent weeks. Rios could be a solid addition.

The Colombian International has the physicality and technical attributes to adapt to English football, and he could form a solid partnership with Pape Matar Sarr. It will be interesting to see whether Spurs can get the deal done.
