Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the German international Jonathan Tah from Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.
According to a report from SportBILD via Sportwitness, the North London outfit have a ‘great interest’ in signing the 28-year-old central defender and he will be available for a fee of around £15 million because of a release clause in his contract.
However, the defender will only consider joining a club with Champions League football and Spurs must look to finish in the top four this season. They are currently fifth in the league table and it remains to be seen whether they can finish the season strongly.
Any top player will want to compete in the Champions League regularly and therefore it is no surprise that Tah wants to join a club with European football.
Tottenham have a quality squad at their disposal and they could challenge for major trophies next season with a couple of intelligent additions. The 28-year-old German defender has proven himself in the Bundesliga and he has the physicality to succeed in the Premier League as well.
It will be an exciting opportunity for him and the German will look to prove himself in English football.
It will be interesting to see how Spurs accommodate him in their starting lineup. They have Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Radu Dragusin at their disposal as well. The 28-year-old will probably seek gametime assurance before joining a new club.
