Tottenham remain active as the January transfer window draws to a close, focusing not only on strengthening their squad but also providing young talents with opportunities to gain experience elsewhere.
In a recent development, the club officially confirmed that promising striker Will Lankshear has joined Championship side West Bromwich Albion on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Will Lankshear: Tottenham’s talented young striker
Under contract with Spurs until the summer of 2029, Lankshear’s temporary move is aimed at securing regular first-team action. Despite the current injury crisis affecting Tottenham’s attacking options, the club remains dedicated to fostering the development of its young prospects.
Lankshear began his football journey with Sheffield United, where he captained the under-18 squad to victory in the Professional Development League Division 2 during the 2021/22 season, netting an impressive 38 goals in 48 appearances across youth levels. Spurs recognized his immense potential and signed him in August 2022 for a reported fee of up to £2.5 million.
The forward quickly made an impact at Tottenham, scoring twice on his under-18 debut and displaying his talent in the UEFA Youth League. His standout performances in the 2023/24 Premier League 2 campaign, where he scored 23 goals, earned him the Player of the Season award.
Lankshear also made strides at the senior level, debuting in the UEFA Europa League against Ferencvárosi TC and scoring his first senior goal in a dramatic encounter against Galatasaray.
This season, the 19-year-old has featured in eight matches across all competitions, scoring two goals. His loan spell at West Brom is expected to provide valuable experience and help further his development.

Tottenham will be closely following Lankshear’s progress at West Brom, confident that the talented striker will return as a more polished and impactful player, ready to contribute to the club’s future.
The decision to send him out on loan comes despite the current injury crisis at the club. The likes of Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert, Timo Werner and Dominic Solanke are all out injured.
They have also struggled to sign a striker so far with both Randal Kolo Muani and Mathys Tel rejecting a move to Spurs this month.
However, the club last week recalled another academy graduate, Dane Scarlett from loan spell at Oxford. And the youngster made quite an impression coming off the bench against Elfsborg in the Europa League, scoring just 4 minutes in with a lovely header before assisting fellow academy star Oyindamola Ajayi to help Spurs qualify to the next round of the competition.
The continues to try and sign another attacker but it is proving to be a difficult task for the club. If they fail to do so, Scarlett could end up getting more chances to impress.
