Tottenham secured a 2-1 win over Ferencvárosi in their second Europa League group stage match earlier tonight.
While Spurs delivered a strong team performance, with goals from Pape Matar Sarr and Brennan Johnson securing the win, Werner’s struggles in front of goal were once again evident.
In the 64th minute, 17-year-old Mikey Moore set Werner up perfect pass across the goal, leaving the German striker with a clear path to goal.
However, instead of taking a decisive shot, Werner tried to round goalkeeper Dénes Dibusz. This proved to be the wrong decision, as he took the ball too wide and ended up hitting the side-netting.

After this and the two one on ones missed Sunday.

This comes on the heels of Werner missing two 1v1 chances in the previous weekend’s match against Manchester United, raising further doubts about his current form.
Mikey Moore will feel frustrated by his teammate, especially as it would capped off his fine performance with an assist.
He played the full 90 minutes and was labelled as “outstanding” by manager Ange Postecoglou after the game.
While Tottenham’s momentum remains strong, Werner will need to rediscover his composure in front of goal to capitalise on the opportunities being created for him.
