The Daily Mail are first out the traps to announce that Paul Mitchell has jacked it in at THFC .
Mitchell was of course the man that was credited with building Southampton.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy brought in Mitchell as part of his club restructuring plan and faced a fight with Southampton, where he oversaw their recruitment and the analysis department, for his services.
The Levy apologists will be busy, beavering away to explain away another bungle, but the truth, as ever, is that working for Daniel is a micromanaged hell on earth.
Poch is good stuff, there’s no two ways about it. But that’s only because Poch doesn’t want any money and doesn’t view Levy with the due contempt for having spent 15 years leeching a living from what used to be a great club.
It will be suggested by the flat-earthers that Mitchell was simply surplus to requirement.
I take a view that Premier League football is a small world and is there are any ‘issues’ with Mitchell, they will be revealed when he struggles to gain meaningful employment elsewhere.
