If I Say ‘Mitch’ A Few Times, That’ll Sort It

By The Boy -

Tottenham have confirmed head of recruitment Paul Mitchell is to leave the club “at a future date to be mutually agreed” after two years in the job.

Mitchell joined Spurs in November 2014, following manager Mauricio Pochettino from Southampton.

During his time in north London, the 34-year-old helped bring the likes of England midfielder Dele Alli and Belgium defender Toby Alderweireld to White Hart Lane.

A statement on Tottenham’s official website read: “The club can confirm that Paul Mitchell, head of recruitment, will be leaving the club at a future date to be mutually agreed.”

Chairman Daniel Levy said: “Mitch has been with us for two years and created a well staffed department and run our recruitment processes for the past two years.

“We understand and respect his wish to consider new avenues. The priority right now is the final few weeks of the transfer window.

“I know that, whilst most of our business has been completed, Mitch is keen to ensure we start the season in the best position.”

Mitchell has been linked with a similar role at Premier League champions Leicester, who lost Steve Walsh to Everton earlier in the summer.

Mitchell said of his time at Spurs: “I have greatly enjoyed my time at the club and it will continue to be my sole focus until such time as I move on to new challenges.”

What makes no sense whatsoever, is the following;

If it’s so ruddy bloody amicable and everyone’s calling each other by pet names, then why announce your resignation a few days before the season starts?

Surely in a genuine harmonious atmosphere, PM would have left by mutual consent on a wet afternoon in November after we had just beaten Liverpool 3-0

If PM wants to explore ‘new avenues’, then what could possibly be a newer avenue than being part of THFC’s brave new world, offering potential signings ‘the greatest training facility and stadium in the entire world™’?

You don’t need to be a Levy fan or a Levy hater to work this puzzle out, a brain damaged gerbil could see that ‘Mitch’ wants out and away from THFC.
