Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the move for the Brazilian midfielder Ederson.
The 24-year-old has established himself as a reliable performer in the Italian league and journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed on GMS that Tottenham are scouting the player and they have been following his performances closely.
The north London outfit appreciate his qualities and they might make a move for him at the end of the season.
He said: “I don’t see Atalanta selling their best players, so they will have to make some decisions or to sell for really big money. So we have to see what Tottenham will decide but for sure, they’re scouting the player, they’re following the player closely and he is a player they appreciate. So I will keep his name for the summer. But at the moment, there is not even a shortlist of players who are guaranteed targets for Tottenham. So I think around March, April, this will be more clear.”
According to recent reports, the midfielder is valued at €35 million and it is fair to assume that Tottenham have the financial muscle to afford him. They need more quality in the middle of the park and the 24-year-old could form a quality partnership with the likes of Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur. He will add defensive solidity and control to the Tottenham midfield.
The Brazilian is still relatively young and he will improve further with coaching and experience. He could develop into a top class Premier League midfielder with the right guidance.
The reported asking price could look like a bargain in the coming seasons if he manages to adapt to English football and hit the ground running in the Premier League.
Tottenham need players of quality if they want to compete for major trophies and it remains to be seen whether they can get the deal done.
A move to England will be an exciting opportunity for the Brazilian midfielder, and he will hope that the two clubs can secure an agreement soon.
