Tottenham Hotspur had a disappointing season under Antonio Conte last year.
The North London outfit finished eighth in the league table and their performances were quite underwhelming.
Tottenham defender Cristian Romero has now reflected on the disappointing period under the Italian manager. The Argentine international defender revealed that things did not go according to plan under Conte and the club have thankfully decided to bring in a new manager.
The 25-year-old seems to be enjoying his football under Ange Postcoglou and he believes that the Australian is a competent manager who has done well to revive the fortunes of Tottenham.
Romero said to the Sun: “The truth is last year I wasn’t happy on a personal and collective level.
“Things didn’t go well at all with . . . we all know who our manager was. But thankfully now we have another gaffer and we renovated our team. This shows the club is doing things the right way.
“They brought in a competent manager and added the right players to our squad.”
The North London outfit have certainly impressed with their free-flowing attacking system under their new manager and they are currently pushing for top four qualification.
While Romero has not openly admitted any animosity towards the Italian manager, it is evident that the Spurs defender did not enjoy his time under the previous manager.
Conte was heavily criticised towards the end of time at Tottenham and his cautious approach was slammed by fans as well as neutrals. The Londoners have been far more proactive under Postecoglou and their brave approach has seen them reap rewards as well.
It will be interesting to see if they can continue their impressive run of form and finish the season strongly.
