‘There is optimism’: Tottenham close in on January signing with ‘talks expected soon ‘

Tottenham Hotspur are working to sign the Romanian defender Radu Dragusin this month.

According to Rudy Galetti, talks between the two clubs are progressing well and the deal is advancing at a good pace.

The two clubs are yet to reach an agreement regarding the 21-year-old defender. But Tottenham are optimistic about finalising a deal. The Premier League outfit will hold a new round of talks with the Italian club soon.

His post read: “Dragusin, talks between Tottenham and Genoa are progressing well, at a good pace. There is still a gap of a few million, but on  club’s side there is optimism to finalize the deal.  New round of talks expected soon: the aim is to reach an agreement asap.

The 21-year-old central defender has established himself as a key layer for Genoa and the Italian outfit will look to recoup as much as possible for him. He is regarded as one of the finest defenders in Europe right now and he should prove to be a quality, long-term addition to the Tottenham defence.

Tottenham desperately need a quality, central defender and the 21-year-old would certainly help them improve. The North London outfit are currently without first defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven. They will need to bring adequate replacements if they want to do well during the second half of the season. They need more depth in the side in order to push for Champions League qualification this season.

A signing like Dragusin would help them tighten up at the back. The young defender can thrive in the Premier League and regular football in England could help the 21-year-old fulfil his potential as well.

If Tottenham can sign him for a reasonable price this month, the deal could look like a bargain in the long-term
