‘the player we all thought he would be’ – Sky pundit is buzzing with one Spurs man

Micah Richards has heaped praise at Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma after yet another solid midfield performance during the North London derby.

Despite a slow start, Spurs got back into the game and over the 90 minutes edged their opponents with a better performance.

Arsenal took the lead twice, but Tottenham responded immediately each time with skipper Heung-min Son scoring both the goals.

James Maddison had a great game as well as he assisted both the goals.

Meanwhile Yves Bissouma was in the midst of all, doing the hard and dirty work Spurs and winning the midfield battle against Arsenal.

He dominated the midfield winning all the tackles (4/4), winning all the aerial duels, completing 4 successful ball recoveries, as well as winning 6 out of the 9 ground duels.

And Micah Richards was full of praise after the Mali international’s dominating display.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Rest is Football, Richards said:

“From the first game I remember doing Match of the Day and it was like wow, it’s a completely new player, the player we all thought he would be, we didn’t know how he would fit into the system and have Sarr alongside but he’s been able to defend, been able to attack but not only that, it’s his composure and awareness around him.”

He joined Tottenham from Brighton for £25m and was considered one of the signings of the summer then but unfortunately, he failed to make an impact due to injury troubles and challenges adapting to Antonio Conte’s playing style.

However, under the guidance of Postecoglou, Bissouma has rediscovered his best form and is now easily one of the best midfielders in the Premier League on current form.
