Real Madrid are strongly pursuing a deal for Tottenham defender Cristian Romero.
That’s according to the latest from Spanish news outlet Fichajes, which claims that the La Liga giants have set their sights on the World Cup winner.
They are looking to bolster their defence and have identified Romero as someone who fits perfectly into their desired profile.
The report goes on to state that the ‘coming weeks’ are going to define Romero’s fate after the negotiations between the two clubs, which would decide whether the Argentinean is going to join Madrid or not.
The 25-year-old still has a few years remaining on his contract with Spurs, which is set to run until June 30, 2027.
The former Atalanta centre-half has been one of the best players at the club this season.
He has been appointed as the vice-captain, and has proven to be a reliable figure for Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Romero has scored four goals in 22 Premier League appearances this season, including the winning goal against Palace recently.
It will not be easy for Madrid to reach a deal with Daniel Levy for him considering the importance of the player at the club and the high price the club chairman is expected to demand for him.
