Talks held: Agent confirms talks with Tottenham for highly rated defender – player wants Premier League move

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to Romanian outlet Fanatik, Tottenham have held talks with the Genoa defender Radu Dragusin’s representative Florin Manea over a potential deal.

The 21-year-old has attracted interest from a number of top clubs with his recent performances in the Serie A, with Newcastle and Spurs two of the clubs recently linked with him.

Tottenham need to bring in a defender or two in January, specially after Micky van de Ven’s hamstring injury which is set to keep him out for the foreseeable future.

And with Dier linked with a January exit as well, defensive reinforcement is a dire need.

In an interview with the Romanian outlet, The player’s agent confirmed Tottenham’s interest in the player and revealed that he has been in London to meet with the top teams including Spurs, Newcastle and Arsenal.

He told Fanatik:

“I have been in London for quite some time and I have almost weekly meetings with important teams.”

“We’re getting closer and closer. I talked to Newcastle, Arsenal, Tottenham. I also have messages with them, conversations. There are teams that ask [about Drăgușin].”

“I want to say that 100%, by next summer, Radu will play at a very strong club! To the top 10 in the world. He wants to be in the Premier League, but know that Milan really like him. I talked to the people there.”

Dragusin has made 54 appearances for Genoa since last season and has established himself as one of the highly rated defenders in the league.

The defender is still quite young and has all the quality and attributes to develop and improve with the right coaching and experience. And Ange has a long-standing reputation of developing youngsters and making them into stars.

Whether Spurs can beat the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal to his signing remains to be seen.
