Tottenham summer signing Brennan Johnson has heaped praise on the duo that helped Spurs make a stunning comeback against Sheffield United – Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski.
It was a frustrating game for Tottenham where a resilient Sheffield United proved difficult to break despite Spurs being all over them.
And to add to their frustration, it was the away side that took the lead against the run of play and seemed to be on their way to cause a major upset.
However, Richarlison came off the bench to change the game. He scored a brilliant header from a Perisic corner in the 98th minute and two minutes later set up Dejan Kulusevski who fired in a rocket to complete the comeback.
And the former Nottingham striker was full of praise for the duo. Speaking to Spurs Play after the game, he said:
“When we’ve got players with such good quality as Richy and Deki showed today, we can never give up because the minute we do, we’ve killed ourselves.”
“So, we go to the last second and it proved today.”
Johnson found the net during his debut as well but the goal was chalked off due to him being marginally offside.
The win against Sheffield United was a significant result for Tottenham, not only for the 3 points itself but also for the boost it provided to the mood, passion, and mentality within the club.
It is also expected to massively help Richarlison’s form who has otherwise been struggling both on and off the pitch. The Brazilian opened up struggling psychologically and admitted that he would be seeking professional help.
There is no denying the quality he possesses – he only needs to get his rhythm going and perhaps the impactful cameo performance vs Sheffield will have provided him that.
