Spurs tipped to have advantage in Cantwell battle

By Ron Carne -

Tottenham are reportedly interested in Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell, but will face significant competition for his signature.

The 22-year-old has been a key figure for the Canaries this season, bagging six goals and two assists in 30 appearances.

It appears as though that impact in his first year in the Premier League has attracted interest from elsewhere, with The Express, via Football Insider, noting that Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester United are all keen.

Given how the Merseyside giants are edging ever closer to the Premier League title this season and remain in contention to defend their European crown, they are seemingly in a commanding position to land their preferred targets.

However, the Express add that Cantwell’s £30m valuation could put them off, while there could be a key boost for Tottenham as it’s noted that they could have a crucial advantage.

It’s suggested that Cantwell could have a better chance of securing a more prominent role at Spurs rather than compete for playing time at Anfield, and so it remains to be seen if that influences his decision if he opts for an exit from Carrow Road this summer.

Meanwhile, BBC Sport note that Jose Mourinho is eyeing a more “balanced” squad next season, and so that would suggest that he’ll look to be active in the summer transfer window.
