Spurs’ starting XI vs Man Utd tonight

By The Boy -

We’re in for a big game, and one can only hope that Sky Sports finds the volume button for the canned crowd noise tonight.

Lloris (C), Aurier, Dier, Sanchez, Davies, Winks, Sissoko, Lamela, Bergwijn, Son, Kane

Look away now: Tottenham has never won a competitive match in June, which one hell of an achievement. The last June loss was last season’s Champions League final against Liverpool. Spurs have also lost their last two Premier League games against Manchester United.

It gets worse: Tottenham lost their last (pre-COVOD-19 game) home league game, 2-3 against Wolves. The last time we lost back-to-back home league games was in January 2019, with those defeats coming against Wolves and um, err… Manchester United.

The bookies say: Man United are set to edge it, @6/5 with Spurs at @6/5, but this is colossal guesswork, my advice would be to only get involved in the in-play action.

Man United’s XI:

How can he never be fit enough though. It takes a week or 2 or 3 to get up to match fitness.. Then match sharpness can take one or a few games depending on the person… It shouldnt take anybody months and months to be able to run for 90 minutes with stops and starts and frequent breaks.. 200k a week as well could have gone towards a proven player like coutinho.

Aye if we’re sitting deep then toby is our only defender who can accurately ping a ball 50-60 yards plus.. Maureen was worried about their pace rashford martial and james. He figured dier and sanchez could handle them better because they are quicker… His words, or words to that effect.

Once again Dier f**ks up and costs us points. I am sick of seeing this guy anywhere near our team even more so when we have a player like Toby sitting on the bench. Sitting back in our own half at home waiting to counter attack is not the football I want to see. For most of the game we were conceding possession and they were far more expansive and quicker in their game style. Watching Fernandes Mark 1 in a Man Utd short and Fernandes Mark 11 in a Spurs shirt is enough to make you cry.

One game in and there is a sense of deja vu. We were outplayed for the most part at our home ground, but managed a draw. We are great on the counter but is this the football we will be playing under Jose?

Their long balls and quick countering can cause us trouble.. Midfield and defense I’m worried about… Equally we can do the same though our forwards are deadly on their day and their defence is shaky at the best of times.. 1-0 to us, son to score, coyfs.

No toby is not good. Winks and sissoko again in the middle is not good.. That team isn’t bad but apart from kane, lamela and lloris that line up worryingly lacks leaders… Great to see coco starting… Five subs now remember so anyone not pulling their weight will be off early.

I was not expecting this lineup… Jose better know something that we don’t. No Toby, no Ndombele, and no Gio (maybe the knock keeps him out). Dier and Sanchez together is asking for trouble. United has good continuity with the same team since before the break.

No Toby? Davies and Aurier. We’re asking for trouble. I just hope we don’t get over run in midfield.
