Spurs signing to miss season opener, could debut against their bitter rivals

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of Brazilian striker Richarlison earlier this month and the 25-year-old has been handed the number 9 shirt at the London club.

He will be expected to make an immediate impact at Spurs but his debut for the Premier League club has now been delayed because of a ban handed out by the Football Association.

The 25-year-old is set to miss Tottenham’s home game against Southampton on the 6th of August after being handed a ban for throwing a flare towards the Everton fans after scoring a winner against Chelsea back in May.

The suspension means that the Brazilian will now return to action against London rivals Chelsea on the 14th of August at Stamford Bridge.

A statement from the FA confirmed that the player will be fined a sum of £25,000 along with the suspension.

Tottenham have paid big money for the 25-year-old this summer and they will be expecting him to hit the ground running. It will be interesting to see if he can make his mark against their London rivals Chelsea on the 14th of August.

Spurs have strengthened their squad significantly this summer and they will be hoping to launch a proper challenge for the Premier League title.

They will need to beat the top teams like Chelsea in order to stay in the conversation for the Premier League title. The game at Stamford Bridge could provide them with the opportunity to start the season with a massive confidence boost.

Richarlison managed to get on the scoresheet, the last time he faced Chelsea in the Premier League and the Brazilian will be hoping for more of the same next month.
