Spurs preparing attempt for 23-yr-old who ‘would love to play in England’

By Saikat -

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the Sporting CP attacking midfielder Marcus Edwards.

The 23-year-old is a former Tottenham player and the London club are reportedly looking to bring him back as per Record (h/t Sportwitness).

The talented attacking midfielder left Tottenham back in 2019 and he secured a move to the Portuguese club Vitoria de Guimaraes. After impressing with them, he secured a move to Sporting CP in January 202022.

Edwards has gone from strength to strength since then, and he recently impressed against Tottenham in the UEFA Champions League.

It seems that his performances have caught the attention of manager Antonio Conte and Spurs could look to make a move for him at the end of the season.

Edwards left Tottenham a few years ago, without making a single first-team appearance for the club. He might feel that he has unfinished business at the London club and a return to Tottenham might appeal to him.

The player has recently admitted that he would like to return to the Premier League in the near future and Spurs could be encouraged by his comments.

He said: “Definitely. Everyone has a different journey. For me it worked out, going over there and it clicked straight away.

“It has been good for me, but I would love to play in England [again] and be near my family.”

Edwards is a crucial player for Sporting and the Portuguese outfit are unlikely to let him leave for cheap. It will be interesting to see if Spurs are willing to pay a premium in order to secure the services in the coming months.

The talented right winger has seven goals and six assists to his name across all competitions this season.
