Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero has been in impressive form this season, but he had a rough start to the season.
Club legend Terry Naylor has now revealed that he is impressed with the defender’s improvement since the start of the season and the Argentine international is now looking different class.
Naylor said on the The Spurs Show podcast: “Romero, I’ve been waiting for him, as a defender I love a defensive player, I’m thinking ‘Come on, show them what they’re doing wrong, you’re not doing it, you’re not doing it’. That was over the first sort of six games, now, Romero, other than getting sent off, he looks different class.”
There is no doubt that Romero is one of the best defenders in the league and he has been a key player for club and country over the past year.
The 25-year-old defender still needs to work on his discipline slightly. The Argentine international can be quite reckless at times and he has been sent off quite a few times since joining the north London club in 2021 under Antonio Conte.
Apart from that, his performances have been exemplary at the back and he is undoubtedly the best defender at the club.
Tottenham will be hoping to push for Champions League qualification this season and they need players like Romeo to step up and perform at a high level consistently.
The north London outfit looked quite vulnerable defensively in his absence earlier this season when he was sidelined with an injury. They will hope that he can stay fit in the coming months and help them return to the Champions League at the end of the season.
