Tottenham Hotspur were heavily linked with a move for the Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni during the summer transfer window.
However, the 23-year-old decided to stay at the Italian club and he snubbed the chance to move to the Premier League.
Recent reports claim that Antonio Conte has not given up on the talented young defender and he continues to follow Bastoni.
The Inter Milan defender has had a torrid start to the new campaign and his performances have been criticised recently.
Furthermore, he has not been able to agree on a new contract with the Italian giants. According to Inter Live, Bastoni is demanding wages of around €10 million per season snd it is highly unlikely that Inter Milan will agree to pay him that kind of money.
It will be interesting to see if Tottenham decide to reignite their interest in the talented young Italian defender when the transfer window reopens in January.
Inter Live claim that ‘Tottenham’s shadow continues to be on him’.
It is no secret that Conte needs to bring in a quality centre back who can partner Cristian Romero in the long run. Although they signed Clement Lenglet from Barcelona earlier in the summer, the Frenchman has joined on a loan deal and this future at Spurs is uncertain.
Furthermore, Davinson Sanchez has been quite erratic so far and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Conte decided to invest in a centre back in January.
The Italian manager knows all about Bastoni having worked with him at Inter Milan and he could help the young defender fulfil his massive potential at Tottenham.
