Sky Sports shares impressive data about in-form Tottenham star

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham’s signing of defender Micky van de Ven in the summer has proven to be a significant success, with the player not only establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the league, but now also holding the title of the fastest player in the Premier League.

The former Wolfsburg player made headlines with his high-profile transfer to North London in August, securing a remarkable €40 million deal.

Van de Ven quickly became a regular starter for Spurs, featuring in all eleven league games at the start of the season until he suffered a hamstring injury against Chelsea last November.

Despite the setback, which sidelined him for nearly two months and caused him to miss ten games, van de Ven returned to action in January and has resumed his role as a key starter for the team.

Known for his exceptional speed on the field, van de Ven’s reputation has now been confirmed by new Sky Sports data (via Daily Mail), which ranks him as the fastest player in the English top flight.

With an impressive speed of 37.38 km/h, van de Ven surpasses the competition, holding a significant lead of 0.45 km/h over the second-ranked player, Luton’s Chiedozie Ogbene.

The remarkable gap between van de Ven and his competitors highlights his exceptional pace, making him a standout performer among Premier League players.

To put his speed into perspective, van de Ven is only 7 km/h slower than the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, showcasing his world-class athleticism, especially for a centre-back.
