Ryan Mason Says ‘I feel very honoured to have played with him” Should We Resist The Urge To Read Too Much Into That – Or Not?| video

By The Boy -

It might be easy to misconstrue some post-match presser comments, however, I feel we can safely take Ryan Mason at his word. One conclusion I came to after the 29-year-old’s perhaps thankfully brief stint at the Tottenham wheel is that the lad will feel more at home back our on the training pitches come next week.

It is always a tough gig, being a caretaker, and at least Ryan for all his platitudes did not make a fool of himself. So, thanks but let’s please move on, eh?

There are two ways to interpret “test Tottenham’s financial resolve”

  1. Big money to prise a manager away from his current number
  2. The new manager is on board with working within the existing frugal recruitment policy.

Precarious times ahead, my friends.

Yeah, to be fair, we did the same thing with Bale 8 years ago.

I wasn’t angry but his selection of Winks & Dele over Ndombele & Lo Celso was frustrating and baffling and made me give up any hope of a strong finish.

“Football London” report that Tottenham have now picked the manager they want to appoint, and a move is expected in the next 10 days.
However, the deal is expected to ‘test Tottenham’s financial resolve’, and with no manager actually named, fans are trying to guess just who it could be.
The line about testing Tottenham’s financial resolve will likely mean the payout needed to buy the manager in question out of his contract.

Ten Hag, Rodgers (Guardiola 😉 )?

Is it even certain where games will be played at the moment?

Can someone explain to me why the new home shirt ‘celebrates’ the Cockerel any more than any previous shirt? It’s complete nonsense most of this kit marking, based on nothing. Looks no more celebratory of the badge than this season’s shirt! 🤔

Can’t see what good can come of it, imagine the abuse we’d get if we won it…..so embarrassing.

Qualification for the Champions League pays out more than winning the Two Bob Ropey over 12 months. No big team will try and win it unless it’s at a canter and doesn’t impact on other things…

I think any manager who might be available for whatever reason is a reported managerial target!!

Could be England set up to win. I wouldn’t worry about any players getting the virus though…..top flight players seem immune???😬

New kit has launched this morning. Nicest for a while.

The interesting thing for me is Harry front and centre in the new shirt. Should we read anything into it?

In the same breath the new shirt with “Bale 9” is available…..so maybe not.

If you have entered a competition you may as well try and win it, but what TRUE glory can really be achieved by winning a competition where you have to finish as low as seventh to participate in it in the first place. Why don’t we, for instance, have a competition for teams who finish thirteenth or perhaps one for teams that finish 17th?

It’s a problem that I have with the Ropey that Leicester would have badly wanted to make the CL but, by failing to do so, they now have a very real chance (a favourite’s chance, perhaps THE favourites chance!) of winning a European trophy next season, a trophy for a competition they actually didn’t want to be in, whereas the desired destination of CL would have promised little chance of ultimate success.

No! But then I think the Ropey is a castrated affair for also rans, so I’m hardly likely to be enamoured of the new competition.

England have a real chance; we’ll be playing most of our matches at Wembley, while everyone else, at the end of a long season, will be travelling all over the place and quite likely that some will pick up the virus. Farcical.

Isn’t that some of the flak that was directed at Poch for not taking less glamorous competitions seriously. Its not the competition Spurs want, but its another chance of silverware. Winning it could give the team a hunger for more success and its a chance to give players minutes.

I don’t really get the anger at Mason. There wasn’t much he could do in a few weeks, at least he got the team playing on the front foot and got some improved play from Dele, Winks and Doherty today. I’m as fed up as anyone with ENIC/Levy, but I think we can give this kid a break.

Just had a look at the Euro 2021 lay out. What a effin mess, 12 nations involved with hosting matches so teams bunking around Europe….when they’ve made a big deal about people not travelling(load of shat) ….it’s a total farce. I thought Germany or someone would host it. Ever since the 86 World cup I have watched every World cup and Euros even when I didn’t have a tele or a house, I made sure I could watch the matches….this will be the first one I won’t bother with. Sad times. No fans, no passion, and lunatics running the show. They even extended it so the likes of Northern Macadonia can join in…..

Cream of Europe it was. Now it’s the moldy yoghart. RIP football.

Ok it’s an inferior trophy but given that we are starved of silverware success the fact that we are in it surely is sufficient motivation itself to win it??!!

Lille are the in form side in France right now. PSG will probably go bad spend this summer and win it next season.

Had a go at the Champions League, did well under the circumstances and won the French Cup. Everyone in France knows that PSG have defensive issues and they have yet to make a single signing under his stewardship. He’ll get another season.

Won two trophies already though, so the loser tag no longer sticks anyway…

So you saying he picked a team to deliberately lose or that he picked a team that in your opinion would lose? I doubt the first and in the case of the second perhaps he’s a better judge than you?

James shaking things up by dropping some big named reputations we should have blood some youngsters this season namely the likes of Devine, Cirkin, Scarlett, Tavernier, White, John et al!, instead of some of the dross that was trotted out ad nauseam!!

So he picks a team to lose and more specifically come 8th. That team
then defies the odds and wins. I mean, how’s your luck.

Have to make the best of it, blood some of the younger players. Thankfully that’s the end of that particular season.
