Romero explains what Tottenham hierarchy must do to end their wait for a trophy

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have not won a trophy since their 2007-08 League Cup win.

Defender Cristian Romero has now explained what the club chiefs must do to end Tottenham’s trophy drought soon and compete at the highest level like Manchester City and Liverpool.

The Argentine international believes that Spurs will need to continue with positive changes in order to improve and succeed at the highest level.

“But these things [building success] can take time because I don’t think you can just start winning trophies from one day to the next,” he said on Sky Sports.

“But if the chairman and the club owners continue with the positive and important changes, we will get closer to being able to really compete at the very top with clubs like Manchester City and Liverpool, as I think today they seem to be the ones who have made a difference in that sense.”

The North London outfit have done well to improve their squad over the last couple of windows, and they have brought in a number of talented players. In addition to that, they have placed special emphasis on signing prodigious young talents with a bright future ahead of them.

It is evident that Tottenham are planning for the future and they have also brought in a manager with an exciting brand of football and a charismatic personality.

Ange Postecoglou is already winning over the fans with his approach and honesty. It will be interesting to see if he can guide them to a trophy soon.

Tottenham have done reasonably well this season and they are currently pushing for Champions League qualification. If they can return to the top four at the end of the season, it will have been a successful campaign for the Australian manager.
