Tottenham Hotspur are pushing for the signing of Bologna centre-back Riccardo Calafiori.
Tottenham have big plans for the upcoming transfer window following an impressive debut season for Ange Postecoglou. They are expected to push for another centre-back as they look to add more depth to their defence.
The North London club are keen on signing Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. The 21-year-old has done quite well under the guidance of Thiago Motta and his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed.
While Spurs are pushing for his signature, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano believes it won’t be easy for Tottenham to sign Calafiori because of Juventus’ interest in him. But, their strong connections in Italian football could certainly help their cause.
Romano on Tottenham’s pursuit via GiveMeSport: “At the moment in terms of names, I’m not aware of anything. Calafiori is a top target for Juventus, so I’m not sure it’s going to be easy for Tottenham.
“But they have good connections with Italian football, we know that. So let’s see about it – at the moment, it’s still not something concrete or advanced yet.”
Since Postecoglou’s arrival at the club, Spurs have already signed two top-quality centre-backs but he still feels the need for another. The Australian manager wants to ensure they have enough depth and quality to compete with the best. As a result, they are keen on signing the AS Roma youth product in the summer.
Calafiori is Juventus’ top target heading into the summer, as a result, Tottenham won’t it easy to secure his services. The Italian giants are expected to go all out to sign the 21-year-old. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few weeks.
