According to Fabrizio Romano,Thomas Tuchel remains a contender for the Tottenham job.
Speaking to the YouTube channel, House of Champions, Romano admitted that the former Chelsea manager is “one to keep an eye on” in regards to the Tottenham job.
He said (5:39-5:52):
“I would keep an eye also on the final name, and it’s Thomas Tuchel, because Tuchel wants to return, too. Tuchel can’t wait to be back as soon as possible in football.
“And so at the moment, there are no contacts, but the relationship between his agent and Tottenham is excellent.”
Tuchel is one of the several top names linked with the job including Mauricio Pochettino. Luis Enrique and Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim.
Conte was expected to leave the club at the end of the season once his contract expires but he could now part ways with the club even sooner after his out public rant on Saturday where he took jibes at the players and the Tottenham ownership.
According to the reports over the last 24 hours, the club is set to sack Conte and Ryan Mason is expected to take over as interim manager until the end of the season.
Tuchel in his short time at Chelsea won the Champions League and the Club World Cup with them. He also lead them to several domestic cup finals. He plays an attacking style of football in contrast to Conte’s passive style.
However it remains to be seen whether he would manage Spurs given his previous affiliation with their London rivals Chelsea.
