Tottenham Hotspur left-back Ryan Sessegnon is set to depart the club on a free transfer this summer.
Once considered a promising prospect for Spurs, Sessegnon’s career has been marred by a series of injuries, preventing him from fully realizing his potential.
The 24-year-old has spent nearly 11 months on the sidelines since February of the last year.
His latest setback occurred after a brief return to action, where he played just 37 minutes for the Tottenham U21 side before succumbing to another hamstring injury. This injury required surgery and ruled him out for an additional three months.
Alasdair Gold has now confirmed that Tottenham will not be taking up the extra year option on his deal, meaning that the player will now leave the club on a free this summer.
Sessegnon will prefer to stay in the Premier League
Fabrizio Romano has also relayed the same, confirming that the club is going to part ways with their academy graduate.
He further added that the player has received plenty of interest across England and Europe. However, the player’s preference is to remain in the Premier League.
He shared on X:
“Understand Ryan Sessegnon will leave Spurs as free agent as expected, time to part ways with the left back. It’s already plenty of interest across England and Europe for Sessegnon, but player’s preference is to stay in the Premier League.”

Tottenham’s Left-Back Situation
Tottenham will be looking to sign another left-back in the summer, given that Ben Davies is also expected to be on the outgoing list.
This will leave the club with Destiny Udogie as the only option, making it one of the areas to address in the upcoming window.
