Report: Tottenham launch stunning bid for 26-year-old with 16 goals and 21 assists

By Mehdi Gokal -

Despite the recent closure of the winter transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur continue to be proactive in the market, having already put forth an offer for one of their desired players.

In an unexpected news, it was reported that Spurs have made an offer for Barcelona’s standout midfielder, Frenkie de Jong.

As per reports from Jijantes, a media platform owned by the esteemed Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, it’s been stated that the Catalonian club has received an offer from the Lilywhites of around €60 million, inclusive of add-ons, alongside a four-year contract proposal for the central midfielder.

De Jong is set to earn a salary similar to his at Barca in North London, contingent upon meeting specific objectives.

The news came as a surprise to many, considering that Tottenham was regarded as the least likely Premier League club to pursue the Dutchman.

The 26-year-old still has over two years left on his contract with Blaugranas, which is scheduled to expire on June 30, 2026.

Barcelona signed De Jong from Ajax in the summer of 2019 for a substantial transfer fee of €86 million. Despite receiving offers from Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and Manchester United, the player moved to Camp Nou.

Since his arrival, he has been a consistent presence for the La Liga side, making a notable 206 appearances for Barca across all competitions and contributing with 16 goals and 21 assists.

Spurs’ recent transfer activities have been marked by unpredictability, exemplified by the acquisition of the young Swedish sensation Lucas Bergvall on last month’s deadline day, coincidentally securing his signature ahead of Blaugranas.

TBH Says:

We are not sure how strong these reports are but he would certainly be a marquee signing for the club.
