Tottenham Hotspur are among five Premier League clubs who have reportedly held meetings with the agent of Dean Huijsen, as they look to make an early move for the highly-rated Bournemouth centre-back.
According to The Athletic, Spurs have met with the 19-year-old’s representatives in a bid to steal a march on rival suitors both in England and abroad.
The club is said to be monitoring the defender closely, wanting to be “thoroughly sure” before pulling the trigger on a formal bid.
Spurs aren’t alone in their pursuit. Liverpool and Arsenal are also named among the Premier League clubs to have met with Huijsen’s entourage, with all three sides keen to add the technically gifted defender to their ranks.
Huijsen has a €50 million release clause, a figure now widely known across the European football landscape. With interest mounting, Bournemouth may soon be forced to fend off serious offers for a player they only signed last summer.
Tottenham’s interest in Dean Huijsen in not new

Tottenham’s interest in Huijsen isn’t new. The club was linked with the player last year, when he was still at Juventus, with reports suggesting they were ready to offer €30 million for his services. However, the move didn’t materialise, and Huijsen instead made the switch to Bournemouth in July 2024.
Since arriving in the Premier League, Huijsen has made an instant impact with his blend of defensive solidity and ball-playing ability—traits that have attracted Europe’s elite.
Tottenham’s renewed interest comes amid growing uncertainty in their defensive ranks. Cristian Romero’s future is up in the air amid links to Atletico Madrid, while Micky van de Ven’s agent has been flirting with Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, Radu Dragusin is sidelined until December with an injury and could be loaned out to regain match fitness when he returns.
While new signing Kevin Danso has impressed since arriving on loan—bringing leadership and consistency at the back—Spurs still need depth and long-term solutions. Danso’s loan includes an obligation to buy, which could prove a smart move if he maintains his current form.
If Tottenham are able to beat the competition to sign Dean Huijsen, it would be a major coup. At just 19, he already possesses the physicality, intelligence, and technical polish to develop into a cornerstone of Ange Postecoglou’s defence for years to come.
With Spurs keen to strengthen ahead of a crucial campaign and interest growing by the day, this transfer race is one to keep a close eye on.
