Report: Tottenham could have a chance of signing long-term La Liga target

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco.

The 29-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Spanish club and he is on the radar of Barcelona and Tottenham.

As per Marca, Tottenham have been trying to sign the player in January for the last two seasons but they have not been able to agree on a deal.

Meanwhile, reports claim that Barcelona have the option to sign the player in the summer because of a clause inserted during the Memphis Depay deal. If the Spanish giants do not exercise their option to sign the Belgian, Spurs would be best placed to sign the 29-year-old.

Tottenham could use more depth in the wide areas and Carrasco would be a quality addition. The 29-year-old is in his peak years and he would add pace and flair to the Tottenham attack. Furthermore, he can operate as a wing-back and his versatility would be an added bonus for the Londoners.

Barcelona are going through financial difficulties and it will be interesting to see if they are willing to sign the Belgian at the end of the season. He is unlikely to be a regular starter for them and he will be 30 next season. Barcelona are probably better off investing their limited resources elsewhere.

The opportunity to join a Premier League club could be an exciting opportunity for Carrasco. He has proven himself in Spain and he could be open to trying out a new challenge at this stage of his career.
