Report reveals the extent to which the Spurs director went to try and get January deal done

By Mehdi Gokal -

Tottenham Hotspur had plans to finalise another transfer in the January window, but the club encountered a slight setback when they saw the move for the wonder kid Antonio Nusa get hijacked by Brentford.

The Norwegian talent appeared to be heading to North London in the final week of January, as confirmed by various sources indicating that Spurs were closing in on the deal.

Nonetheless, the fellow Premier League club Brentford hijacked the deal and agreed to a £25 million transfer with Club Brugge.

The transfer saga took its final twist when Antonio Nusa failed his medical examination due to knee and back problems, leading to complications in the deal.

However, it has been revealed that the Lilywhites were eager to secure the young left-winger last month and employed all available tactics.

According to a report in the Danish outlet TV2, the North London went to the extent of contacting Norway’s national team coach, Stale Solbakken, in an attempt to persuade Nusa to join the club.

Tottenham’s sporting director, Johan Lange, reached out to Stale Solbakken, leveraging their strong relationship built over many years of collaboration at FC Copenhagen.

It seems that even approaching the man who awarded Nusa four international caps did not yield the desired result for Spurs.

However, Tottenham did not let the setback deter them, and they successfully concluded the deal for the Swedish sensation Lucas Bergvall just before the deadline.
