Report reveals Postecoglou ‘had doubts’ about Tottenham outcast ‘from their first meeting’

By Saikat -

Tottenham defender Djed Spence moved to Genoa on loan earlier this month.

The 23-year-old was on loan at Leeds United during the first half of the season but the Championship outfit decided to send him back to his parent club in January.

Questions have been raised regarding his discipline and professionalism in recent weeks and a report from ESPN now claims that Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou ‘had doubts’ about the player ‘from their first meeting’.

The Australian manager wanted to player to go out on loan so that he could gain regular first-team experience, but the player reacted badly to his suggestion. The report further states that Postecoglou felt that the 23-year-old defender was a wrong fit for his Tottenham squad.

The defender has impressed in the Championship before his move to Tottenham and there is no doubt that he is a talented player. It will be interesting to see if he can get his career back on track track with regular football in Italy now. If he manages to impress with Genoa, he might be able to secure a respectable move away from Tottenham at the end end of the season.

It is fair to assume that he does not have a future at the north London club. Spence will have to sort out his attitude if he wants to succeed at the highest level and establish himself as a top class performer in the Premier League.
