Report: Premier League clubs challenging Spurs for Bologna midfielder

By Eddie Razo -

Tottenham Hotspur has made some moves over the past 12 months to improve their midfield. The addition of Rodrigo Bentancur in January and Pape Matar Sarr’s pending arrival this coming summer is the first steps of putting together a midfield group that satisfies manager Antonio Conte.

However, they’re not done. According to Record (via Football.London), Bologna midfielder Mattias Svanberg is attracting interest from Spurs. The Italian club wants to sell the 23-year-old.

Svanberg’s contract expires next summer, so they will be looking to sell the Sweden international this year rather than losing him on a free transfer in 2023. Despite Spurs being in on the midfielder, they aren’t the only Premier League club.

The Portuguese outlet Everton and West Ham are also interested in the Bologna man, who has made 116 appearances since joining the Serie A side from Malmö FF in 2018. Svanberg has scored nine goals and recorded seven assists during his five years in Italy.
