Tottenham could be offered the chance to sign a World Cup winner in a ‘sensational’ player-plus-cash deal for Guglielmo Vicario.
Recent reports have linked the Italian shot-stopper with a move to Italy, with Inter Milan reportedly interested in signing Vicario. The Serie A club is said to be prepared to pay £25 million for his services.
According to the latest from Inter Live, Inter’s managing director, Giuseppe Marotta, is considering using Benjamin Pavard in a stunning exchange deal to secure Vicario.
The report states that Inter view Vicario as a long-term solution for their goalkeeping position.
Additionally, Tottenham are said to be fans of Pavard, and including him in the deal could tempt them to consider the offer. Talks are expected to commence in the ‘next few weeks,’ potentially leading to a transfer in the summer.
Former Spurs scout Bryan King recently dismissed the idea of Spurs selling Vicario at this moment, claiming that the recent reports are the work of his agent, aimed at securing a new contract at Tottenham. Vicario joined the North London outfit only last season, and his current contract does not expire until 2028.
However, the inclusion of Pavard could indeed turn Tottenham’s heads, considering the experience, quality, and versatility he would bring to Ange Postecoglou’s side.
The Frenchman has established himself as one of the top defenders in European football, rising to prominence during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, where he played a crucial role in France’s triumph, notably scoring a stunning goal against Argentina in the knockout stages.
