Report confirms Tottenham attempt to sign 26-year-old title-winning defender

By Saikat -

Napoli defender Kim Min-jae has been linked with a move away from the Italian club at the end of the season.

According to a report via Spazio Napoli, Spurs tried to sign the player this summer but their approach has been rebuffed.

Apparently, the South Korean international has an agreement to join Premier League rivals Manchester United and therefore he has rejected the opportunity to join Tottenham.

Tottenham will have to sign a quality central defender this summer and Min-jae would have been an outstanding acquisition. The 26-year-old has been a rock at the back for Napoli and he has helped them win the Italian league title.

He has the ability to succeed in the Premier League as well and he could have been a key player for Tottenham.

It remains to be seen whether the London club can bring in adequate reinforcements in the coming weeks and sign a quality partner for Cristian Romero.

Meanwhile, Min-jae has already proven himself in the Italian league and he will be hoping to test himself at a higher level now. It remains to be seen whether he can see a move to Manchester United in the coming weeks.

Spurs have been quite vulnerable at the back this season and players like Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez have been linked with moves away from the club. Clement Lenglet is also expected to return to his parent club Barcelona upon the expiry of his loan deal.

It seems that Tottenham might have to bring in multiple defensive reinforcements during the summer transfer window.
