Tottenham defender Radu Dragusin has become the subject of transfer rumours as the January window approaches.
The Romanian international, who joined Spurs from Genoa for £25 million in January, has struggled for consistent game time in North London. This has sparked interest from Serie A heavyweights Napoli and Juventus, eager to bolster their defensive options.
Dragusin’s agent, Florin Manea, has also been stirring speculations, with constant interviews regarding the player’s future.
He recently spoke to the media again, refusing to rule out a summer move away. In an interview with Telecapri, he acknowledged the links to the Italian giants, stating that such interest is a testament to the centre-back’s potential.
And while Manea emphasised that Dragusin remains fully committed to Tottenham, where he still has five years remaining on his contract, he admitted that the situation might be reevaluated in the summer.
Manea said (via Football365):
“It is an honour for Radu to be wanted by teams like Napoli and Juve, but right now they are just rumours.
“We are focused on Tottenham. He still has five years left on his contract. It is not easy to go to a top club and impose yourself right away, he is still 22-years-old.
“If he never plays this season it is normal that other evaluations will be made: in January he won’t move, in June he will be evaluated.”
Recent injury crisis has given Radu Dragusin a run of games
At Tottenham, Dragusin has been playing behind the established centre-back duo of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in Premier League fixtures. This has limited him to only three league starts so far this season.
However, manager Ange Postecoglou has given Dragusin opportunities to develop, frequently starting him in Europa League and Carabao Cup matches. (Transfermarkt)
With Van de Ven currently sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Dragusin has a significant opportunity to make an impact. Strong performances during this period could enhance his standing within the squad and earn Postecoglou’s trust for more regular inclusion.
While speculation about a potential summer transfer lingers, Dragusin’s immediate focus remains on proving his value to Tottenham and solidifying his role during this critical period of the season.
