Tottenham striker Dominic Solanke is on track to return after the international break, just in time for the North London derby against Arsenal on 15 September.
Dr Rajpal Brar, a physical therapist and sports scientist, confirmed that Solanke’s recovery from an ankle injury is going well, with the medical team taking a cautious approach to ensure his fitness for the crucial upcoming matches.
Solanke, who joined Tottenham in a record-breaking transfer from Bournemouth, made his debut in a 1-1 draw with Leicester City.
However, he has missed the following games due to an ankle injury.
Dr Brar explained that while Solanke remained injury-free last season, contact injuries, particularly to the foot and ankle, often take time to heal properly.
Tottenham’s medical staff has focused on a careful rehabilitation plan to guarantee that Solanke will be ready to make an impact when the season resumes.
Speaking with Tottenham News, the doc stated:
“It sounds like he is quite close to returning from his ankle setback and based on what Ange said, the medical team was being conservative with him to make sure he’s ready to go for some big matches following the international break.
“Although he was injury free last season, any player can pick up a knock regardless of injury history.
“Those contact injuries especially to the foot and ankle can take some time to get back from.
“I’d expect him to be back in contention on the other side of the international break.“
His return will be a welcome boost for manager Ange Postecoglou, who hopes to see the striker replicate his impressive form from the previous campaign, where he scored 19 goals and provided 3 assists, making him the joint-fourth top scorer in the league.
As Solanke nears his return, Spurs fans will be optimistic about his contributions in the upcoming matches. His presence could be crucial as Tottenham aim to build on their promising start to the season and push for major titles.
