Pundit slams ‘wildly erratic’ Tottenham star who has no ‘positional sense’

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur have been quite vulnerable in the last few Premier League matches and they have conceded 14 goals in their last four league outings.

The North London giants crashed to a defeat against Liverpool at the weekend and their defence was all over the place at Anfield. While Tottenham did well going forward, it was the defence that let them down.

Popular pundit Gregor Robertson has now slammed the performances of full-back Pedro Porro and central defender Cristian Romero.

Robertson revealed that Porro is lacking in positional sense and his erratic defending cost Tottenham against Liverpool. He also added that Spaniard struggles while defending one versus one situation, and is lacking in defensive discipline.

“They have some wildly erratic individuals within that. They have Romero and they have Porro who just doesn’t look like he knows how to defend in terms of a positional sense or in one vs one duels. You have to throw that into the mix when they have players who just go wildly off script,” Robertson said on The Game Football Podcast.

Tottenham are currently sixth in the league table and they will have to tighten up at the back if they want to play European football next season.

Champions League qualification is already looking like a distant dream for them. They must ensure that they secure European football in order to boost their finances ahead of the summer transfer window.

Former midfielder Ryan Mason is currently in charge on an interim basis and Tottenham have certainly shown impressive character in the last two outings under him. They did well to come back from 2-0 down against Manchester United to secure a draw and almost came away with a point from Anfield after going 3-0 down in the first 15 minutes of the game.

There is no doubt that Tottenham have quality players at their disposal but they need to be more disciplined against the top teams in order to grind out positive results.
